It is night and thick fog is swirling through the Muggenbacherwald, when four dignitaries of the municipality Hablikon go to one of their regular hunting parties. One by one they go on the prowl, together, they then want to celebrate their success in the inn afterwards. But one of them does not pop up: trustee Reichle has been killed by a gunshot.
