While it’s an obvious play to perhaps earn that elusive Oscar for best song, there are some interesting revelations here. I had no idea she has been diagnosed with Asperger’s. I found it incredibly interesting how her being sued early in her career had the unintended consequence of her being the sole owner of the rights to her entire storied music catalogue. Pretty cool. And in just about any other year, I would probably concede that they should just finally give her that Oscar. But, I think the song written for this is probably the weakest of her most recent song submissions. One thing is made crystal clear—she isn’t ever gonna stop gunning for it. So Oscar death racers, and anyone else that attempts to watch all of the Oscar nominees every year are going to have to continue their annual Diane Warren watch for the foreseeable future.
