Gabriele Degenhardt wants to travel to Brunshaupten with her daughter Annemarie, where her groom Dr. Fritz Neubauer is to follow later. Fritz tries to help Annemarie with packing the suitcases, but is only in the way and is sent away with other tasks. One of these orders takes him to a bookstore where Alfred Möbius works as a salesman. He has just received a love letter from Käthe Eberlein, the daughter of the wealthy sporting goods retailer, and his thoughts are with her. So it happens that he packs the wrong books and the letter for Fritz.
