The history of Ukraine and Russia is also the history of Denmark. It was Vikings who founded Kyiv and the mighty Rus' Empire, after which Russia is named. Moesgaard's exhibition "Rus - the Vikings in the East" opened almost simultaneously with Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and the museum was drawn into the fight for history and cultural objects. Amid the horrors of war, museum workers in Ukraine are fighting to secure cultural objects with the help of their Danish colleagues.
