While its sincerity is clear, the film ultimately feels a bit too modest to leave a strong lasting impression. The animation style is simple and functional, fitting the tone of the story but rarely standing out on a technical or visual level. It does its job without adding much personality or flair to the experience. Narratively, the film is straightforward and safe with lots of liberties. The themes of identity and personal growth are present, but they're only lightly explored, which keeps the emotional impact somewhat muted. The pacing is steady, though at times it feels flat, as if the story is holding back instead of fully committing to its ideas. "David" is not a bad film by any means, but it lacks the depth and ambition needed to be truly memorable. It's earnest, competently made, and occasionally touching, but ultimately limited.
