- Kevin WardJuly 7, 2025“Why are you being silenced? And why do you have an Ariana Grande tatoo?” I’m not a fan of most found footage horror films. I find that in most cases the low light environments and shaky cam serves only to obscure the horrors from actually being depicted onscreen instead leaving most of the horrors up to your imagination. That typically results in a boring (or worse) frustrating watch. While Dashcam does fall into those trappings for some stints of it’s runtime, I was surprised at the amount of set pieces were actually included here. Car crashes, explosions, a creepy carnival setting, and plenty of blood and gore helps to make this film miles more visually interesting than most. Add in a kind of obnoxious yet magnetic lead in Annie Hardy who’s constantly spitting out gems like “Ma’am, you must be rocking some sort of Benjamin Button vagina.”, and I found myself having a surprisingly good time with this flick. If you absolutely hate found footage, I still probably wouldn’t recommend this. But if you’re willing to take a chance on seeing one that handles visual a little differently, I think this just might be worth your time.
