Cutthroat Island Ratings & Reviews
- neuroparadoxJuly 29, 2025Not totally sure why this movie got so much hate... Was it the behind-the-scenes shenanigans? Was it because there is a female lead? Was it the anachronistic 20th century dialect in a 17th century setting? Not enough salty seamen jokes?💦 Who knows and who cares, but it's a perfectly serviceable mid90s action adventure flick, à la: Romancing the Stone meets Pirates of the Caribbean. I don't think it has the chops to be a cult movie, but if you haven't seen it before, and have only heard about it being a massive financial bomb/the death knell for Carolco Pictures, check it out...it's fine.
