This movie has aged better than I ever expected. It highlights the life of a simple man, living a simple life in the Australian Outback who is thrust into the modern day hustle and bustle of 1980’s New York. He’s no Superman, but he’s connected with the land, the people and the customs. He blends in, even if it’s not comfortable, yet he never ever loses his humanity or his need for human interaction - greeting a half dozen people in a city of 7 million as if he will “see them later.” Even out of his element he is bringing people around him closer together with his good natured persona. The more simple the folk he meets, the more they accept him as a friend. Unlike today, where people seem so keen on being stoic, angry and omnipotent - Crocodile Dundee shows us that it’s not how tough you can pretend to be, but how open to differences we can all be and how no matter what your background we can all be “mates”. Being different is not a reason to be angry with one another, it’s a way to explore humanity and how different we can all be. The ending is as emotional and heartwarming as any love story you’ve seen, showing us that even a crowd as rough as New York can still have and recognize humanity and love. Things were certainly different back then, and it took a simple man to show us that.

Sucked, an absolute waste of time that has aged poorly. I really wanted to like this movie, especially with how much my family quotes it. But actually seeing it, it's a gimmick done poorly
