    One of Denzel’s best!

Rewatched this and it still hits hard. Everything feels contained and intense in that way where even small moments carry a lot of weight. Denzel and Hackman are just perfect together here — both super controlled, both convincing, and it makes the whole command struggle feel completely real. Probably one of the best submarine movies made since Das Boot. One of my favorites, definitely along submarine movies. Just a really solid, no-nonsense watch from start to finish.

By far Cmdr. Hunter's best movie! Way better than Deja Vu, and The Taking of Pelham 123... The amount of red, green, and blue lighting is visually STUNNING! The audio work is also just AMAZING! The amount of cheering with deep bass drum hits, and scorching horn build-up's... BREATH TAKING! This is how important the sweat is in this documentary... The radio would have never gone out had there not been 3000 gallons of sweat dripped onto EVERY SINGLE surface on board. Fantastic water works dept. on set here made the ocean, and the body secretions truly come to life! The amount of sweat, and the amount of lighting is as much of the story, as the story itself. It makes this first flick in the Cmdr. Hunter series the very best! You'll enjoy the glorifying of a psychopath trying to blindly nuke the Soviet Union, and pay ZERO penalty for it. All while Cmdr. Hunter plays himself in this very accurate, and well thought out documentary of the attempted Taking of SSBN-731.

So balanced, calculated and unsolvable. Legendary scenario. Washington and Hackman are brilliant. Tense and relentless. Great supporting.

A movie set on a subermarine sounds boring oh how wrong you are this is acting on another level with two of the greatest actors ever and the best action director ever turning this movie in to an action packed thriller full of drama and will leave you with tons of questions and moral dilemmas. This is Washington at his best and why he ended up winning an Oscar for training day. This is one of my most watched movies and its as good as ever if you like this then you should watch.

Good 90s movie with Denzel and Gene Hackman. Suspense filled good story line that keeps the audience engaged. Great movie to put on whole multi-tasking.

The best face close ups and camera shakes a submarine movie could ask for.
