It is an interesting idea wrapped in a very strange movie. Christopher Walken is fun to watch as always, and the dream-logic, surreal tone is kind of cool at first. But it’s a bit too long, and the pacing drags once the weirdness stops being surprising. The biggest problem is the alien makeup — it looks cheap and honestly hasn’t aged well at all, which makes a lot of the supposed scares fall flat. Overall, it’s not terrible, just a curious, uneven sci-fi oddity that works better as a concept than as a movie.

Communion was a paradigm shifting book for me it haunts me to this day. This movie tries to be horror, but the practical effects come off as cheesy. If I wasn't such a fan of the book it would be a 2 star movie. But the book and CW are why I love this movie so much. Is no fire in the sky but it does have a special place in my heart.

Solidly a 3 for the quality of acting from Christopher Walken. He's brilliant in this. The horror aspects are light. Overall, the greatest aspect of this movie is never knowing whether what you're seeing on screen is real. There's no explanation for whether any of what's shown is real. I actually love that.
