Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs Ratings & Reviews
- Lucas MagretaJuly 20, 2025really good aimation and a sequel a didn't watch but I really liked the original
- Manuel FrangisMarch 21, 2025I just watched Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs again and I would give it 4 out of 5 stars. This is one of those animated movies that is completely ridiculous but in the best way possible. It is packed with funny moments creative visuals and a story that is both silly and surprisingly heartfelt. The movie follows Flint Lockwood a quirky inventor who creates a machine that makes food rain from the sky. At first it seems like the perfect invention but things quickly spiral out of control in the craziest ways possible. The idea alone is fun but what makes the movie work so well is how over the top and imaginative everything gets. Bill Hader is great as the voice of Flint. He brings the perfect mix of awkwardness excitement and heart to the character. Flint is a lovable nerd who just wants to make something amazing but he also has to deal with the fact that his inventions do not always work the way he plans. His journey makes for some really funny and surprisingly emotional moments. The supporting cast is just as fun. Anna Faris as Sam Sparks brings a lot of charm to her role as the enthusiastic weather reporter. Her dynamic with Flint is really well done and adds to the heart of the story. James Caan as Flint’s dad is hilarious in a dry and deadpan way and Mr. T as Officer Earl is one of the funniest characters in the whole movie. The humor in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is a mix of slapstick comedy random jokes and clever wordplay. Some of the jokes are completely absurd but that is what makes them so funny. The movie does not hold back on the ridiculousness and that is part of what makes it so fun to watch. The animation is bright colorful and incredibly creative. The way the food looks and moves makes the world feel larger than life. The way the movie takes something as simple as food and turns it into a full blown adventure is impressive. Every scene is filled with crazy details that make it feel like a living cartoon. One of the best things about the movie is how unique and unpredictable it is. Even though it follows a basic underdog story structure it keeps throwing in new surprises and weird ideas that make it stand out. It does not take itself too seriously but it still manages to have a lot of heart. The pacing is fast and nonstop. There is never a slow moment and the movie constantly moves from one wild sequence to the next. Some of the best scenes feel like they came straight out of a Looney Tunes cartoon with how exaggerated and crazy they get. The reason I am giving it 4 instead of 5 stars is that while it is a fun and creative movie it does not quite have the same emotional depth as some of the best animated films. It is hilarious and exciting but it does not hit quite as hard on the emotional side. That being said it is still a fantastic watch that delivers everything you would want from a fun animated comedy. Overall Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is a fast paced fun and completely unique animated movie that stands out from the rest. It is filled with laughs heart and some of the craziest food related visuals ever put in a movie. I had a great time watching it and it is definitely a movie I will be rewatching.
