Awesome movie! My son wanted it after he read the book. It had a few changes, the start of the movie was a little boring. But only 20 minutes later it starts building up the lore, the ending was a little underwhelming. But right before the end is the overall peak of the story.

I had never even hear of City of Ember but The whole film feels like one long trailer. There is no connection between one scene to the other. There is no build to the characters, you don't understand how they are connected to each other and you don't get a chance to know them before they become a main parts of this plot. I would not recommend this!

City of Ember stood out to me with its unique setting, a city built underground, lit only by failing lamps and sustained by dwindling resources. Watching it felt like stepping into a world both mysterious and fragile, where the sense of urgency was woven into every scene. The story of Lina and Doon uncovering clues to save their people carried that mix of adventure and hope. The visuals of the crumbling city were striking and the atmosphere gave the film a sense of weight, even though it was aimed at younger audiences. It wasn’t a loud blockbuster, but rather a thoughtful, imaginative tale about courage, curiosity and the drive to find light in the darkness. By the time it ended, I felt like I’d been on a journey, one that reminded me of the power of discovery and the resilience of people facing the unknown.
