I read his biography about 10 years ago and have had this on my watchlist ever since. Finally got around to it, and it’s a really solid watch. Robert Downey Jr. absolutely disappears into the role — the physical acting especially feels spot-on and you can tell he studied Chaplin closely. What I liked most is that it doesn’t just show the genius side but also the messy, complicated parts of his life. It feels more human than the usual polished biopic. Some parts move a bit quickly, but overall it keeps you interested the whole time. Also a nice little touch seeing Chaplin’s daughter, Geraldine, playing her own grandmother. That kind of detail makes it feel a bit more personal somehow.

Chaplin is a brilliant and heartfelt biopic, with Robert Downey Jr. giving a stunning performance as the legendary Charlie Chaplin. He perfectly captures Chaplin’s charm, wit, and inner struggles. Beautifully directed and emotionally powerful, it’s a must-watch for anyone who loves classic cinema and great storytelling.
