Buck Privates Ratings & Reviews
- EnochLightMarch 9, 2025"Buck Privates" is probably one of my all-time favorite Abbott & Costello films ("One Night in the Tropics" being the other), featuring the duo when they were absolutely at the top of their game. Featuring the superb Andrew Sisters in one of the best musical bits in 1940's film history, it's just a blast to watch. If you're new to Abbott & Costello, this film is a must-watch. Unlike Charlie Chaplin's 1940 brilliant "The Great Dictator", the boys stay away from being political and, in the end, make an honest US military propaganda film. The comedy is perfect, the musical bits are legendary (seriously - The Andrews Sisters forever made me fall in love with a woman in uniform!), and the story plot is solid. Highly recommended!
