(P.S. many people believe that the "wolf" is indeed an Hyena or, escaped from Louis' "I'm so rich" menagerie, or that and/or another creature imported by a lower nobleman's son.)
- Doc WormJanuary 25, 2026Wildly uneven, poorly paced and about 40 minutes too long. Brotherhood of the wolf is however a unique amalgamation. Where else are you going to find martial arts in a French period piece?! Great costuming and visually rich. Bonus points for Mark Dacascos being one of the leads but they could’ve written him to be in the film long. Pretty fun overall but kind of a slog.

It gets a little lost in its messaging but somehow manages to bring it into an interesting film that is mostly style over substance. A good night's entertainment.
