Billy Eichner is out there hustling trying to sell this movie and after seeing it, I can see why. He’s clearly poured a lot of himself into this. It has a touching and sincere message of acceptance (of self and others) but even more-so, it’s just a daringly funny rom-com, probably unlike anything you’ve seen before. I have to admit this first 5-10 minutes are a bit rough. Some of the humor didn’t land, performances felt wooden and the score/music felt noticeably mismatched to the scene. Thankfully, the film settles in and really finds it’s groove after that. Really funny stuff. Great cameo from Debra Messing, too.
The Jewish Chronicle
Linda Marric
The film only slightly loses its way when it tries to include too many narrative strands in the quest for representation across the board, which, while important, feels rather superfluous at times.
FilmWeek (LAist)

Hilarious and really has a universal appeal.

Eichner, as co-writer, mixes in enough queer humor and insight to please fans and educate others. Pay attention, the one-liners and social consciousness observations are hurled at you non-stop.

Bros is a boldly gay comedy that defines love on its own terms.
Boston Globe
Thelma Adams
Funny, sharp, sexy, and occasionally explicit.

While "Bros" may follow a formula, it proudly shows that doesn't have to mean playing it straight.

The film does entertain, and my laughs were loud and hearty on multiple occasions.
Fox 10 Phoenix

Step aside, Hugh Grant and Diane Keaton, the pantheon of great, neurotic rom-com leads has found a new king in Billy Eichner.
Chicago Sun-Times
Richard Roeper
Funny and warm, the gay love story lives up to the swooning standard of When Harry Met Sally and Notting Hill.
Chicago Reader

Bros is a genuinely funny movie with nuanced emotional heft.
The Atlantic
David Sims
Eichner is among the best at firing off zippy, acidic one-liners, and Bros never lets scenes get too heady or polemical without slipping in a few funny asides. That balance, and Eichner's generally hyperactive onscreen style, keeps the momentum going.
Rolling Stone
David Fear
Eichner is unafraid to walk a tightrope between representation and irreverence, affection and agitation, when it comes to cracking open gay life in the name of cracking people up. Funny is funny.
TIME Magazine
Stephanie Zacharek
What's wonderful about Bros is how un-different it is. The bewilderment of early love, the insecurities, the confusion over what sex "means," or doesn't-all of that is universal, which is exactly the point.
Vox
Alex Abad-Santos
I thought I knew Billy Eichner to be someone cynical, who'd written off romance, but Bros reflects a curiosity about how love functions in the heads and hearts of gay men.
Entertainment Weekly
Leah Greenblatt
Whip-smart, soft at heart, full of bravura free-form character bits and cul-de-sacs.
New York Magazine/Vulture
Alison Willmore
For all Eichner's intentions to make history with the movie, it's at its best when it frees itself from representing anything more than two characters falling in love.
Autostraddle
Drew Gregory
The truest thing I can say about Bros is that it's the first gay rom-com co-written by and starring Billy Eichner. The best thing I can say is I hope it's not the last.
NPR
Bob Mondello
There's a certain amount of pressure on "Bros" in commercial terms. Will audiences show up? Will studios make more like it? But you don't feel that pressure when watching it.
Movie Mom
Nell Minow
There's a bushel basket of witticisms and pop culture references. Without getting too heteronormative, there is also a lot of heart.
