Brightburn Ratings & Reviews
- Scott SmithOctober 14, 2025This is Superman in Smallville if he was a psychopath as a child. I really wish they had made more movies in this series, they had the start of some really good ideas for a new (and much more brutal) superhero universe. James Gunn and his brothers did a great job on this horror-superhero hybrid.
- M08YApril 29, 2026I can clearly see what they were going for, the execution was just a little off. It would be pretty easy for me to slate this film and tell you everything wrong with it... but in all honesty, I don't really want to. Done on an estimated budget of about $12M this film really didn't turn out too badly. I think this film suffers mostly from expectations. Having James Gunn's name all over your low budget film sets some pretty lofty expectations that in this case, simply weren't met. The story was fairly novel and the casting was pretty good. I think where it falls apart for me was the pacing/direction. I would really have loved to see a slower realisation of Brandon's dark side. Alas. Absolutely nothing to complain about on the Audio/Visual front. The use of special effects seemed fairly restrained and nothing stuck out majorly. The audio was actually fairly good with some nice tense moments in there.
- A Home Movie ServerApril 21, 2026It was a fun, gripping movie from beginning to end. Had some decent jump scares along the way. Intertwined with a good story line along the way made it easy to follow. If your looking for a good movie to watch and not get grossed out by all the blood and gore, then this movie will be for you. I liked it.
- ZokkiieMarch 15, 2026There’s a steady sense of tension that keeps things interesting without ever feeling too intense. Some scenes move slowly, but the cast keeps it engaging throughout. Small twists and unusual moments give it a bit of bite without leaning into full-on scares. The visuals have a few clever touches, and light humor pops up to balance the mood. It’s uneven here and there, but the quirky energy and subtle suspense make it an oddly enjoyable watch.
