Jim Brannigan is sent to London to bring back an American mobster who is being held for extradition, but when he arrives, he has been kidnapped, which was set up by his lawyer. Brannigan, in his American Irish way, brings American law to the people of Scotland Yard in order to recapture this mobster with a price tag on his head and a stuffy old London cop with whom to contend.

    “Brannigan” features an over-the-hill John Wayne attempting to bring his cowboy swagger into a “Dirty Harry” style role. Set in London, he trades a love interest for a young female driver and barrels through the city with brute force. There’s plenty of action, but much of it feels clunky or poorly staged. It's an odd mix of grit and nostalgia that doesn’t quite come together.
