Borderline Ratings & Reviews
- SpoonsMarch 15, 2025Ray Nicholson delivers a gloriously unhinged performance in Borderline, masterfully balancing disturbing intensity with hilariously manic energy. It’s impossible to look away—he’s magnetic, showcasing a powerful pedigree of acting talent but carving out his own distinct style separate from his iconic father, Jack Nicholson. Honestly, that alone sums up the film: familiar roots, uniquely executed. Samara Weaving brings her dependable scream queen charisma, adding depth and charm amid the chaos. Alba Baptista matches the film’s wildly unpredictable energy, standing out with her delightfully manic presence. Their duet rendition of a Celine Dion classic is a standout, both brilliant and bizarrely fun. Director Jimmy Warden’s unapologetically batshit tone feels genuinely exhilarating, offering a rare, truly original experience in an era of safe and predictable films. Paired with fantastic musical choices, Borderline stands out as a refreshingly insane entry into contemporary cinema.
- Patrick and NancyApril 1, 2025Another “So much potential” film that suffers from scenes that the director finds too precious to shorten and characters too dumb to make any sense of their actions.

- Hipster ZOMBIEMarch 15, 2025Director Jimmy Warden has cooked up one of the most deprived and entertaining dark comedies of the year. “Borderline” follows Paul Duerson (Ray Nicholson), an obsessive stalker whose delusions drive the story into chaotic and visually striking territory. Samara Weaving stars as the object of his obsession, delivering another intense performance that solidifies her as a modern scream queen for this generation. Nicholson gives a star making performance here and looks to carry on his father’s iconic legacy in film.
- Splitvision89April 27, 2025Cool premise for a movie, but the execution is terrible. The main antagonist is just an awful actor
- asharma56March 22, 2025It was an unexpectedly amazing movie was really interesting! <3
- Poulsen80June 14, 2025This movie surprised us. Fun, violent, a bit silly, but it all blends together in a almost perfect mix. The movie captures mental illness, is it a bit exaggerated, yes, but it does it to be clear about what is going on, and why people are making the choices they make. The movie knew what it could bring to the table 94min and nothing more. If your open for something different, then this is the movie for you.
- jackmeatMarch 19, 2025My quick rating - 5.6/10. Yep, love. It makes us do crazy things. Like escaping from a mental institution, breaking into a pop star’s home, and waging a battle of wits and knives against anyone who gets in the way. Borderline gives us exactly what the title suggests: a movie that teeters on the edge of greatness but never quite commits. Ray Nicholson plays Quinn, a lovestruck psycho who is equal parts charming and utterly unhinged. Think Ted Bundy with a Spotify playlist of '90s bangers. He’s got the look, the obsession, and, unfortunately, the screen time of a supporting character. Seriously, why are we not getting more of this guy? Instead, we’re treated to an ensemble of equally murderous misfits who turn what should have been an intimate stalker-thriller into a horror-comedy team-building exercise. Straight to streaming video darling Samara Weaving plays Sofia, the pop superstar who quickly realizes her biggest hit isn't going to be her escape plan. She spends most of the movie dodging knives, stalkers, and nostalgia-driven musical cues while delivering a solid final-girl performance. But let's be honest—the real scene-stealer here is Alba Baptista as Penny, a pint-sized villainess who could probably get her own spin-off, a prequel, or at the very least, a Youtube series on “creative ways to murder your enemies.” The kills? Satisfying. Plenty of blood, plenty of stabbing, plenty of “oh, that’s gotta hurt” moments. The humor? Dark. The kind of humor that makes you chuckle, then immediately check if anyone else in the room is judging you. The third act? Well... it exists. Instead of an explosive climax, we get a wrap-up—the cinematic equivalent of an “Okay, we’re done now.” It’s like the movie just got tired and decided to end. So, should you check out Borderline? If you like your horror with a side of humor, your stalkers with a hint of charm, and your finales with, well, low expectations—sure. It’s entertaining, but you’ll probably walk away thinking, it could have been so much more. It's a love story that just won’t take no for an answer.
- Marian IulianJune 7, 2025I would say stupid movie😅
- cultfilmlikerJune 3, 2025Everyone loves to watch Samara smoke cigs! Terrific cinematography. The music video scenes could have been shorter lol especially the one with the dagger “Robert Smith from The Cure” made me guffaw. Other than that, the parts with the foreign woman were pretty funny (for the most part) A cop irl would have shot that little girl for laughing at him …and then the one time a cop should pull their gun, he doesn’t! lmao Pearl ruined endings like this lol Mia & Ti just nailed it so hard Added to 2025 Ranked
- romandini3May 4, 2025Great premise that is hindered by some awfully prolongated scenes that add absolutely nothing to the film. Nicholson is trying to find his inner father and replicate his insane state of mind that is fully on display in The Shining. Sometimes I believe him but those moments are quite rare and you pretty much see most of them in the trailer. There is a lot of "Marvel-type" writing here and trying to create a scene purely out of half-assed whacky facial expressions that I just despise. BUT there is some fun to be had.
- Scott SmithApril 21, 2025A weird and occasionally humorous movie about a pop star diva and her psycho stalker and his equally unhinged friends invading the pop stars home. Some funny ideas and decent acting make it a worthwhile watch.
- Bryce HawkApril 21, 2025AWESOMEEEEE movie! One of my top 10 favorites due to the acting and the story!
- James MooreMarch 18, 2025Watchable. But only just. Acting was fine, story was fine although some of the decisions were unusual and made the experience a bit uneven. Sometimes it leaned into horror, others more focused on the psychological aspects of the characters. A few weird (but enjoyable) scenes like the singing added to the confusion.
- EdwardMarch 16, 2025The whole cast comes together wonderfully in this movie. The Paul character leaves a sense of unpredictablility. If you are looking for a great dark comedy, Bordlerline really does a fantatsic job on delivering a new addition to the genre.
