- COCOMarch 18, 2025I laughed so hard I cried, and I cried so hard I laughed. Not really sure if there were more laughs than tears throughout my watch, but what I can say is that the emotional range of this story feels like the warmest hug you'll ever get. It's heavily focused on the aspect of family, specifically those who we consider chosen family and the impact they can have in our own lives. The cast is absolutely phenomenal. Barbie Ferreira is the standout through an extraordinary, layered performance, but John Leguizamo is pitch perfect as a kind man making an unexpected friend on the internet. Not to sound crazy, but this is definetely worthy of many Oscar nominations for next year's award season. It's captivating from star to finish, never afraid to tackle the hard subjects with honesty and unpredictably askew. Bring a box of tissues, seriously.
- RickMay 16, 2025I think I got some sand in my eye at the end.
- JUFLIX.July 4, 2025Great movie! Very moving, casting is perfect, definitely enjoyed. I highly recommend this.
- Camilo GutierrezJuly 2, 2025emotional. Again, it is unfortunate that this is not fiction, but an everyday occurrence. Great performance of the protagonist
- Kevin WardJuly 1, 2025Nearly the entire theater was in tears, or trying to hold it together. …and then the film’s ending hits and even more people lose it. …and then the dedication hits the screen. (More tears) ….and then director Tracie Laymon came out for a Q&A. (…so many more tears) It was an amazing experience, sitting in a packed theater all 200 or so, sniffling and blubbering together. When Lily (Barbie Ferreira) has a falling out with her father, Bob Trevino (French Stewart), he cold shoulders her and cuts off communication. She tries to reach out to him on Facebook and inadvertently befriends another man also named Bob Trevino (John Leguizamo) and perhaps finds the father she never had. Everyone just wants to be liked. Sometimes kindness and connections can break the patterns of inherited trauma and generational brokenness. A deeply personal debut feature film from director Tracie Laymon, one to absolutely keep an eye out for.
- CKigenJune 29, 2025Unbelievable touching film. We were both destroyed at the end.
- rg9400May 1, 2025This movie had some really great reviews, so I was expecting to be hit with some emotional gut punch. I don't think it necessarily accomplishes that. For most of its runtime, it feels a bit saccharine and melodramatic. I think Barbie Ferreira is doing a decent job and is intentionally going overboard, but the script itself doesn't seem like it is able to differentiate itself from a lot of similar movies oriented around this type of loneliness and desire for emotional connection. The movie is strongest when it actually focuses on her relationship with her real father, played really well by French Stewart. The ending is probably also the most impactful part of the movie because it feels the most sincere and personal. I found that landed really well, but I found the rest of the film somewhat okay, decent-ish but nothing special.
- PlexInfiltratorJune 16, 2025Decent, feel-good movie

- cultfilmlikerApril 24, 2025Daddy Issues: the Film Goddamn what a gut punch of an opening. Barbie is so hot smh Leguizamo kills it in this and Barbie is great too! Love to see Lolo! Still upset about The Sex Lives Of College Girls getting cancelled lmao French Stewart is damn near unrecognizable in this role and he’s very good in it! I’ve never had to deal with anyone who thinks or acts like that and if I did, I would probably physically fight them! Not familiar with Rachel Bay Jones but she is a lovely actress! Very sweet, very sad! An engaging portrayal of loss, longing, and family strife. Some peculiar dynamics! A lot of emotions on display, being evoked, or at least attempted Captures the feelings of doubting, anticipation, and just overall insecurity of communication in a digital society, as Kyle M would say. Leguizamo has some monologues that remind me of A Crow Looked At Me by Mount Eerie Also, my condition is not the same as Daphne’s (I have more mobility AND culpability) but fuck that speech wasn’t very far off! Loved the simplicity of Leguizamo’s character’s choice to resolve his work problems but boy is the practicality flawed!! lol Bittersweet ending!
