Where to Watch Black Christmas
- jackmeatMarch 14, 2025My quick rating - 7.1/10 Suffice it to say, if you are a horror fan, specifically "slasher" flix and you haven't seen this, well, you aren't a fan. This one is recognized as the first actual slasher movie (Bay of Blood sometimes, but..) and still remains creepy. The big difference then to now is much of the violence is more for your imagination and off-screen. The music is used very well to set this all up. Just a great movie that stands the test of time by being that damn good. Simple: Must see.
- Ben RaynerMay 10, 2026The original slasher pic and still one of the best. The -- ahem -- black sense of humour doesn't hurt, nor does a rather awesome performance by the late, great Margot Kidder. Although everyone in this is pretty good, elevating it above your average exploitation flick. Canadian gold.
- CarterNovember 10, 2025Black Christmas is an underrated horror classic. People are always glazing Halloween, Scream, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, and technically this movie invented the slasher genre, it started this whole new line of horror. After watching this movie I am safe to admit that this is a true horror classic, and a movie I would watch every year, especially around Christmas. The movie has a creepy antagonist (Billy), and all the phone calls from him are all so creepy, and in a sense bone chilling, the camera work is done very well with all the shots, we get some of the creepiest shots in horror history. The characters are fine in this movie, even the final girl is just fine in this movie. I know there are two remakes of the classic, but I’m not going to bother checking them out, because I know they won’t be better than the original. So overall this is a horror classic in my eyes, and a movie I would for sure watch every December!!
- Rocco DOrazioDecember 29, 2024Through masterful use of sound design, unsettling avant-garde voice work, and perfect set design, we are thrust into a world of the male gaze, but from the perspective of its prisoners. There is too much dialogue, unnecessary attempts at humor, and too slow a pacing, but the disturbing atmosphere paired with its similar themes reminds me most of watching Alien. This film has more to say than just a gillao or slasher film. Certainly a film that needs to be heard on a good sound system to capture the minute sound details that heighten the experience. Absolute despise when the poster spoils (part of) the film experience >:|
