In town for a job interview, a young woman arrives at her Airbnb rental late at night only to find that the house has been mistakenly double-booked and a strange man is already staying there. Against her better judgment, she decides to stay the night anyway, but soon discovers that there is much more to be afraid of in the house than the other house guest.

Second time watching it. Still remember what a surprise it was the first time around, especially that twist—most horror films would completely mess that up, but this one actually nails it. It’s got that uncomfortable, creeping tension that turns into straight-up stress, and it never really feels like it’s following a predictable path. Keeps you guessing in a way that feels earned rather than chaotic. Not perfect, some parts are a bit uneven, but the energy and unpredictability carry it a long way. Definitely one that sticks with you after.

This takes an unexpected turn and then and even MORE unexpected turn. You either love or hate how it turned out. At first I wasn’t sure, but after this rewatch I get it.

STOP reading these reviews and just go watch this. An exhilarating theatrical experience filled with tension, laughter and scares. Legitimately, had no idea where any of the story was headed at any point. Loved Skarsgård, Campbell and Long as the leads and features some impressive camerawork to boot.  Can’t recommend this enough for the horror fans that delight in the unexpected.

Stylish and intriguing but ultimately forgettable.

Loved it! You think it's heading one direction, then it completely does a 180 on you. I've not seen anything quite like it before.

Barbarian is a horror film that puts Zach Cregger on the map as a promising director. While it employs classic genre tropes, it builds tension through performance in a remarkably effective way - from the very first scenes, the unease and subtle fear between the characters act as a lure, lulling the audience before the story fully unfolds. As the mysteries of the house deepen, the film makes claustrophobic fear almost tangible, and the confrontation with what awaits the characters is genuinely terrifying. The carefully built emotional tension reaches its peak in the disgusting, shocking spectacle of the second half of the movie. The way the backstory and the creation of the deadly trap are presented is particularly impressive - dividing the film into chapters focusing on individual characters provides a satisfying understanding of the plot. Barbarian is an example of a horror movie that skillfully balances suspense, terror, and narrative ingenuity. The film exceeded my expectations.

Ohh, they live on Barbary Street! I get it now! Such a fun ride with such wonderfully frightening direction! Phenomenal laptop toss “Alright, bitch. Get ready to get fucksd” is such a sinister line Weird to see Kurt wearing shoes! Zach’s work makes me so happy. So excited for Weapons ugh The 4K HDR makes the anxiety even more fun!

Very watchable. A few good jump scares. I wish Justin long could play a character that isn't such a spaz.

Ever heard of the Austrian Joseph Fritzel? This is the American version of his true story, and what likely would have happened had it started in the 60's

OMG what did I just watch? Shocking, plot twists, a little scary. Still enjoyable - but had no idea where the filmmaker was heading.

The first title from the maker of ``Weapons``. You can see the influences, sadly this is the weaker title if you compare them.

The rare horror movie that combines modern issues with multiple genres of horror with a slick and real feel that is chilling. Three interwoven stories that is really one and it demonstrates what great writing, direction, and acting can do.

Very strong movie in the current wave of great alternative horror films.
