Ejército de los ladrones
Directed by Matthias SchweighöferWhere to Watch Ejército de los ladrones
- Manuel Frangis5 de diciembre de 2025I just watched Army of Thieves and I give it 2.5 out of 5 stars. This movie had a fun idea and a stylish presentation, but it did not fully connect with me the way I hoped it would. There were moments where I felt entertained and moments where I could see the potential for something great, but the overall experience felt uneven. The movie tries to blend comedy, romance, and heist action into one story, and while some scenes work, others feel slow or disconnected. It has charm, but not enough consistency to make it truly stand out. The strongest part of the movie is the main character. He is awkward, passionate, and strangely lovable. His obsession with safecracking gives the story personality, and he carries the film with a quirky sense of humor. Whenever he is on screen, there is a spark that makes the movie more enjoyable. His reactions, excitement, and nervous energy keep the story from feeling flat. You can tell he wants something bigger in life, and that emotional drive makes him easy to root for. The supporting cast adds flavor but does not always feel fully developed. Some characters feel interesting and fun, especially during the early parts of the story, but others feel like they exist only to move the plot forward. I liked the dynamic between the main character and the female lead, but even that relationship sometimes feels rushed. The emotional moments do not get enough time to breathe, and because of that, the connection does not land as powerfully as it could have. The heist elements are creative. The movie tries to make safecracking feel like an art form, and the visuals during those sequences are stylish and fun. The camera work, music, and editing make those scenes enjoyable to watch. They feel unique compared to other heist movies. But the problem is that the excitement from those scenes does not always carry through the rest of the story. There are stretches where the plot feels slow and unfocused, and that hurts the overall pacing. The comedy is hit or miss. There are lines that genuinely made me laugh, especially when the humor comes from the main character’s personality. But there are other moments where the jokes feel forced or awkward. The tone sometimes jumps between silly and serious in a way that does not always blend smoothly. Because of that, the emotional scenes sometimes feel out of place, and the funny moments do not always land the way they should. The story itself feels a little thin. While the idea behind the plot is interesting, it feels stretched out. There are times where it seems like the movie is padding itself just to fill time. The emotional stakes are not strong enough to pull the viewer in deeply, and the overall narrative feels predictable. Even though the movie is visually appealing, the writing does not always give the characters enough depth to make the story memorable. By the time the movie ended, I felt like Army of Thieves had pieces of something that could have been great, but those pieces never fully came together. It has charm, style, and a few standout moments, but the pacing issues and lack of emotional depth make it feel average. It is enjoyable enough to watch once, especially if you like heist stories, but it does not reach the level it could have. It earned its 2.5 out of 5 rating from me.
- jackmeat12 de agosto de 2025My quick rating - 6.1/10. In case you finished watching "Army of the Dead" and your first thought was, "I wonder what the backstory of Dieter is." Well, you are in LUCK. Man, I wish Netflix still had their affiliate program, back in the mail in days, I never had to pay for my subscription due to that program pulling in members...anyways, the movie. It isn't like having a bank heist movie is a bad thing. I just found this one to be so cookie-cutter, which is tagged with "Army of the Dead," so I did expect there to be something to make it stand out from the crowd. Instead, we get Matthias Schweighöfer starring and directing this Zack Snyder-written backfill. Dieter is your everyday bank teller who runs a YouTube vlog on safes and all their inner workings. Being an expert in the field, he finds himself in a competition to be crowned the king of the safecrackers, which is where he earns the attention of a criminal group to perform the real deal. I would have to assume if such contests exist, this would be where the thieves would in reality do their recruiting, LOL. Things do run quite smoothly to start, but if you know the heist formula, then you know it won't stay that way. Since Dieter is more into this whole thing for thrills and personal accomplishment, he finds himself on the low end of the totem pole. Even with our little twists, everything is way too predictable throughout this one. Still, it is well done, and the directing is quite accomplished for a fledgling director. The characters follow your usual mix of this specialist, that heavy kind of thing, and all do just fine in their respective roles. It very much just felt like a "Fast & Furious"-lite that was pushed out to capitalize on the recent success and keep everyone anticipating the Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas TV show to hit. The action looks good and does like to keep it on the light-hearted side. There is a nice and subtle sense of humor throughout as well. The occasional references to the AOTD were also nicely fit into the timeline to keep the continuity of how he ended up on the job that would ultimately change Dieter forever. Nothing that redefines the genre but still a good time.
