Antidote Ratings & Reviews
jackmeat
July 12, 2025
My quick rating - 4.5/10. This one had some serious promise. The first half was really leading up quite nicely, but the good in the secretive nature of why our protagonist is being held captive also ends up leading to the bad. The plot is this: she and others are in a secret facility that is mutilating and nearly killing patients only to give them a drug that allows them to regenerate and be back to normal. So this really held some promise, and also allowed for a decent amount of gore. Then you figure out what is going on, at least I did, and then the torture and recovery become mundane as you fully expect what the end will bring you. Even if you don't figure it out, the escape plans repeatedly failing just get tedious to watch. Still, for a low-budget flick, aside from the poor effects at the end, the rest of it visually looked fine. Acting is exactly what you would expect, just not annoying. Just passable. For a one-time viewing, as long as you realize it has money constraints to fight against, you will be entertained. The story itself is well crafted up until the end. And if you don't figure it out, you will get a nice surprise in it. I really didn't mind it much and would've liked it more without that part. So no spoilers for you, go check it out for yourself.

Taken on its own merits, Antidote is a credible effort. I would love to see what Mr. Daskaloff might create with a decent budget. If you get a chance, I recommend you check this one out.

Director Peter Daskaloff builds some decent tension at first, but the plot soon turns repetitive, culminating in one of the most overused and obvious twists in horror.
