Alone in the Dark Ratings & Reviews
Kevin Ward
July 6, 2025
I may have set my expectations a bit too high for this one. But with a cast that includes Loomis himself Donald Pleasance, Martin Landau and Jack Palance, how could I not have lofty expectations? Despite a stellar poster and a (literally) crazy plot synopsis, this was not nearly as crazy as I was hoping. It is definitely fun to see the aforementioned cast members here. I would have loved more of them. Felt like it was lacking in the gore/effects dept. still, I liked when the baseball bat pounded the cleaver deeper into Fatty’s back. And even though it was kind of dumb, I liked the knife through the bed scene too. Though it didn’t match my expectations, I still had fun and am glad I saw it. And I kind of think I’d like it more on rewatch.
Fat Guys at the Movies
Kevin Carr
A fun little non-slasher slasher movie that works as a horror film.

This Alone in the Dark only looks like a godsend when placed alongside Uwe Boll's same-named turkey -- on its own terms, it's nothing special.
Reel Film Reviews
David Nusair
...a rather foolproof setup that's employed to predominantly (and distressingly) hit-and-miss effect...
Gone With The Twins
Mike Massie
Everyone takes their roles seriously, and the combination of Palance, Landau, and Pleasence (this is a great opportunity to embrace their wild sides) imparts extra gravitas.
Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews
Dennis Schwartz
Though the plot is hokey and its message is crazy, the maniacs- on -the -loose thriller is chilling.
Cinema Crazed
Felix Vasquez Jr.
A morbid and utterly mind bending little thriller...
Rob's Movie Vault
Rob Gonsalves
The movie's tongue-in-bloody-cheek satire of psychobabble sets it apart.
FulvueDrive-in.com
Chuck O'Leary
The premise isn't plausible and Palance, Landau and Pleasence deserve more screen time, but this has enough off-beat and darkly comic moments to make it passable. And the final scene is a hoot.
DVDTalk.com
Scott Weinberg
Palance, Pleasance, and Landau ensure that, while it might get a little dry and silly at times, Alone in the Dark sure isn't boring.
Mountain Xpress (Asheville, NC)
Ken Hanke
Uneven, but sometimes creepy, sometimes quirky thriller.
