- Kevin WardJuly 7, 2025A low budget 70’s mystery thriller with a dash of some slashing. There some pretty wild stuff here— red herrings, Catholic guilt, a young Brooke Shields, creepy masks. I really loved the mask and outfit of the killer, especially when we get double mask action. It’s a solidly fun mystery with some low budget thrills and kills. There is also some stuff that hasn’t aged so well. There’s some gross fat shaming in the treatment of the neighbor Mr. Alphonso. They make him out to be so completely disgusting with piss and shit stains on his pants. There’s also one of the grossest movie quotes that I can remember that objectifies a pubescent girl. A cop says,”She is a weird little girl. Did you notice her tits? When I went to put the tube around her she looked up at me like she wanted me to feel her up.” Still some of those cringey moments don’t take too much away from the good time.
- eif999January 28, 2025Catholic guilt is right. Alice sweet Alice will need lots of therapy. Movie takes pace in a rainy 1961 New Jersey and all the location shooting rings true. The soundtrack is above average. But what really sets it apart is the tension filled ending that goes where I didn’t expect.
