It's a deeply touching movie that will force you to feel. Hauntingly beautiful, it's a movie I hope to never watch again, but I'm glad I did. I DO NOT RECOMMEND WATCHING THIS WHILE YOU'RE WATCHING YOUR NEWBORN AT 3AM. I speak from experience.

Paul Mescal and Frankie Corio were excellent together. How Charlotte Wells made an idyllic holiday feel uneasy was quite the trick. My knock on the movie is that it felt slow but I understand that was done intentionally.

Aftersun stands out as a deeply emotional, visually poetic exploration of the intersection between the memories children have of their parents and the hidden realities of those adults.

I can absolutely see this film going over the heads of people who do t struggle with mental health or the constant feeling of failing as a parent. Heart breaking and devastating in such a beautiful way makes this film very special

such a great heartfelt story, the visuals were great and both paul mescal and frankie corio crushed it.

Remarkable directorial debut debut from Charlotte Wells. Devastatingly subtle in it’s storytelling conveying a deep feeling of sadness throughout the film, not in the moments that appear on screen, but moreso in the moments that don’t. The moments we do see are mostly joyous, depicting Sophie (Franke Corio) and her dad, Colum (Paul Mescal) on a holiday at a luxury resort in Turkey. However, as we’re given minuscule glimpses of Sophie’s future, namely her looking back at this holiday with her dad.  Wonderfully crafted by Wells and I was completely enamored by Corio’s performance.  I will be looking forward to seeing more from both of them. Highly recommend Aftersun. It’s been lingering on my thoughts every since the credits rolled.

Honestly, I didn't care for it much on my first viewing. Revisiting this film after my father's death made it hit totally different. I was not expecting to be as emotionally floored as I was the second go-around. I wonder if I'll feel the same after a few more years pass.
