Actor, Playwright, Artist, Poet, Founder of Brazil's Teatro Experimental do Preto (Black Experimental Theater) and Museu de Arte Negra (Museum of Black Art), finally a Politician, elected to the Brazilian Federal Chamber of Deputies in 1983 and 1987, and served in the Brazilian Senate from 1997-1999. Abdias do Nascimento died in 2011.
