How David feels about his cousin, how they view what their grandma went through compared to what they face, and what each individual on the tour is feeling even if they don't recognize it as real in light of what they're seeing on the tour. Both Jesse Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin absolutely slay in their completely different roles. Both the subtle moments and the big ones are landed perfectly in each case. I love the idea that David will forever have an inconspicuous rock on his door step, not likely to be noticed or considered by anyone, and yet it will hold great meaning for him each day he passes it by. I like the idea of a small, hidden in plain sight memento from a profound trip. These are absolutely my favorite kinds of movies: Just spending a little bit of time with some human beings, learning a bit about the human condition.

Initially, it feels like he is just rehashing his role as Roman Roy, playing the crass and blunt asshole. However, he brings an extra layer of vulnerability and pain that boils to the surface throughout the movie, really differentiating the two roles and showcasing his acting chops. At first, the movie plays out like an odd couple road trip, but it becomes evident that this movie is exploring pain and the way different people deal with it, whether it be by bottling it up, being brutally honest and sharing it with others, or trying to explore the trauma of the past in a way to overcome it. There are some beautiful shots and strong writing, credit to Jesse Eisenberg's directing and writing. However, I left the movie feeling like it was lacking something, something that brings it all together. The ending is ambiguous, and I get that is the point: there is no single moment that can bring catharsis. Regardless, it still felt like it didn't land the emotional punch necessary for even that type of messaging, lacking something that will make me remember it. It's easy to watch and worth watching, just don't go in expecting a masterpiece. Kieran Culkin will be winning awards for this performance though.

- Doc Worm2026年1月7日A sweet sentimental road trip where Jessie Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin, I assume play themselves. Both the leads and minor characters do well with this tight script. Bonus points for being a family drama that is only 90 minutes long.
- Thomas Barrie2025年10月1日A real, relatable experience perfectly balanced with humour from two fantastic performers
- Mischa2025年9月22日Alot of talking and not much going on.
- Marcelo Scatena2025年9月18日I liked everything about the movie, including the great performances, but left wanting way more from it. All conversation could've been explored more, just like all moments of tension and all emotional bits.
- PatrikStar2025年2月1日The Ending was Real Pain
- Richard Scott Long2025年9月16日Terrific! I really dont know why I didnt give 5 stars...I enjoyed this movie
- William Hampton2025年9月9日Wonderful acting (and writing, and directing, and score) by Jesse Eisenberg.
- Nick Banas2025年8月15日I started watching this movie on a plane, and after 20 minutes, realized that this was a film I need to sit down and dedicate time to. I shut it off and went to sleep. Upon landing, as I was unpacking my things, I threw this on and gave it the attention it deserved. As someone who had come to Poland to visit to connect with the culture and history, I was excited to see this film. I really enjoyed this. Had I watched it on the plane, I would have likely dismissed this, but it deserves the awards it received.
- mr90152025年8月12日Very touching, you should watch it.
- Scott Smith2025年2月24日This was a simple, but very well done little movie. Well written and acted. The title refers to David's cousin Benji, his travel companion to Poland, who is both 'A Real Pain' in the ass, and a man who is living with 'A Real Pain' inside of him. A very good acting job by Culkin of portraying someone who obviously suffers from a debilitating Manic-Depressive disorder. Well worth a watch.
- shirazesat2025年8月2日Not much of a comedy - it made me cry more than laugh - but certainly worth a watch. Insightful, covering topics like generational trauma, privilege, familial love, bipolar disorder, and genocide. Apt at a time when so much evil is taking place.
- Kevin Ward2025年7月2日I was not a huge fan of Jesse Eisenberg’s directorial debut feature When You Finish Saving the World. It was competently made BUT I found nearly all of the characters to be almost completely insufferable. Interestingly enough, his sophomore effort also features characters that can be insufferable at times, but they also have enough redeeming qualities to make following them around on a holocaust tour in Poland a compelling watch. Certainly there’s credit to be placed on Eisenberg’s writing. It’s funny and witty in ways they feel incredibly specific to these two characters who are cousins with an entire shared history behind them. But Kieran Culkin is absolutely incredible in this. I don’t know how but he manages to portray the kind of person that is incredibly funny, magnetic and (quote) “really f🤩king cool,” while simultaneously leaving you feeling like they would be an absolute intolerable nightmare to have as a friend. Culkin and Eisenberg have excellent chemistry and their push and pull with each other is incredibly fun to watch. Probably giving extra points for Culkin’s performance alone which is so good, but this is worth checking out.
