- HaHaHarvey44May 8, 2025300 is less a movie and more a testosterone-fueled fever dream... like if a history class was taught by a bodybuilder on pre-workout and rage. Zack Snyder delivers two hours of oiled abs, slow-motion murder, and speeches shouted with the subtlety of a Spartan sword to the chest. It’s historically accurate in the same way pro wrestling is an Olympic sport, but who cares? Gerard Butler growls every line like he’s gargling gravel, and the visuals are drenched in so much CGI and sepia it looks like the entire film was shot inside a protein powder factory. Subtle? No. Profound? God, no. Entertaining? Absolutely, if your brain’s had a few beers first. It’s dumb, loud, glorious nonsense.

- cultfilmliker7d agoSo bad. So good. So much nostalgia. Cinematography and slow-mo action sequences are still untouchable. It’s beautiful Zack Snyder is really really good at filming certain sequences! Also the production on this is incredible obviously
- Kevin Ward7d agoMy oldest son picked this out, his first watch. Still an incredibly fun watch. I loved Zack Snyder’s hyper stylized aesthetic and the slow-mo action sequences when I first saw it in the theater. Had really never seen anything that looked quite like it. Gerard Butler gives an iconic leading man performance. I feel like Butler’s entire career was born from his delivery of “This is Sparta!” The film feels a bit dated now but it still rips on a proper home theater setup. Jackson and I just got back from Greece about a week ago, too, and learned all about Greek history, so this gets a bonus 1/2 star for being 100% historically accurate.
- pipanniJune 27, 2025An amazing action movie with great visuals. Every frame looks like a painting. But what I enjoyed more was the true story at its core. Sure, the Spartan narrator might exaggerate a bit (or a lot), but it's still a timeless tale of courage and sacrifice. "The world will know that free men stood against a tyrant." Indeed.
- JesseJune 3, 2025Oh man, I hadn't watched this in at least a decade. I will say, as cheesy as it is, it's a great turn your brain off and watch buff dudes relocate blood and limbs in slow motion. Possibly the Citizen Kane of it in fact.
