Zack Snyder delivers two hours of oiled abs, slow-motion murder, and speeches shouted with the subtlety of a Spartan sword to the chest. It’s historically accurate in the same way pro wrestling is an Olympic sport, but who cares? Gerard Butler growls every line like he’s gargling gravel, and the visuals are drenched in so much CGI and sepia it looks like the entire film was shot inside a protein powder factory. Subtle? No. Profound? God, no. Entertaining? Absolutely, if your brain’s had a few beers first. It’s dumb, loud, glorious nonsense.

- trrsAugust 22, 2026It’s a near perfect adaptation of the comic, and the biggest mistake you can make with Zack Snyder’s 300 is treating it like a serious history lesson. This is basically myth, exaggeration, and propaganda brought to life, not a documentary. The fact that the story is being told by Dilios after the battle makes that even clearer he’s hyping up what happened to inspire the Spartan army. Look at it that way, and the over the top style, larger than life characters, and ridiculous action all work exactly as intended.
