- ssosmcinJanuary 5, 2025One of my favorite Science Fiction movies of all time. A really excellent follow up to the original 2001, and I consider the sequel to be better than the original. That's right, I'm not one of those people who will look at a classic film and consider it great simply because of its status. I found the original to be quite dull. Although I do respect its place in history. Having said that, 2010 is an excellent and fairly realistic early 80s science fiction film. It also carries a message. One that might seem dated, but doesn't have to be. Roy Scheider is excellent as are the rest of the cast which consists of heavyweights like Helen Mirren, John Lithgow, and Bob Balaban. Peter Hyams writes and directs and does a wonderful job.
