- Mister ArnApril 6, 2026“12 Mighty Orphans” is a football story built on emotion. It takes kids who are seen as having no value and shows how they find self-esteem through structure, discipline, and the game itself. Set during the Depression, the backdrop adds weight, even if it leans heavily on sentiment to get there. It works on a basic level. But the filmmaking is uneven. At times, it feels rushed, jumping through moments with quick, almost montage-like sequences instead of letting them play out. Some characters are developed enough to connect with, but many others are treated more like a group than individuals, which limits the impact. It doesn’t fully earn everything it reaches for, but the core of it lands.
