Darren Kavinoky is back again with *Deadly Sins: No Forgiveness* — the creator, producer, and host of *Deadly Sins* across all six seasons. As a criminal defense attorney, he breaks down each case through one of the seven deadly sins, showing how an everyday vice can turn fatal. We used to follow each other on my old Twitter, and I'd love to reconnect.
Any other IDAddicts out there watching? What do you think of Darren's take on these cases — jump in and share your thoughts.
*Deadly Sins* is one of my favorite ID shows. Hosted by Darren Kavinoky, it looks at real crimes through the seven deadly sins — and across all six seasons, it really gets you thinking about *why* people do the things they do. As someone fascinated by human behavior, that's what keeps me watching.
Have you watched it? Which sin do you think drives the most crime? Share your thoughts and opinions — I'd love to hear them.
What made *Urban Legend* stick out for me is that it took the creepy stories I'd grown up hearing — the ones everybody swears happened to a friend of a friend — and brought them to life on screen. I saw it in undergrad with a group of friends, and we laughed that the movie's dean was Dean Adams, just like our own student dean of students was named Dean Adams. The jumps, the intense scenes, the awesome effects — it was just pure fun, especially since I already knew the legends and kept waiting to see how each one would show up.
I'm curious.... What are some urban legends or 👻 ghost/creepy stories/folklore you know that you would care to share. I'm all ears 👂🏻 and eyes 👀.
😱 The Possession of Hannah Grace is one of those horror movies that pulls you into a dark, unsettling atmosphere and makes you wonder just what you're getting yourself into! I only got to watch about half of it because of constant interruptions, but what I did see definitely caught my attention. If you're into creepy settings, demonic possession, and a sense of dread that keeps building, this one might be worth adding to your watchlist. Sometimes, the scariest things are the ones we can't explain! 👀💀 Would you dare to watch this one alone in the dark???
Seven Deadly Sins (2010)
This is full of high school drama, jealousy, secrets, and revenge. What starts out as a battle for popularity soon takes on a much darker, more mysterious feel.
These friendships are anything but innocent, and you can't help but wonder just how far these teens will go when pride and revenge take over. If you enjoy a little mystery mixed with plenty of drama, this one is worth checking out. I'll be watching it again. It will stay on my watch list..
This is not the "7 Deadly Sins" I'm thinking. The one I'm referring to is this one:
Title: Seven Deadly Sins (2010 Miniseries)
Cast: Stars Dreama Walker as Harper Grace and Rachel Melvin as Kaia Sellers.
The Story: After losing her queen bee status to a new transfer student, Harper engages in a toxic game of revenge and deception. This web of secrets directly impacts a tragic accident, leading to a mysterious death and lingering consequences for the teenagers left behind.
This version isn't terrible, but honestly, I don't think I'd watch again. It follows a group of high school kids planning the ultimate spring break party. But when things take a dark and creepy turn, their night of fun becomes something much more sinister. If you're into teen horror with a supernatural twist, this one might be worth checking out! 😈☠️
Have you watched *No One Saw a Thing*? You should. It's SundanceTV's six-episode true-crime series from Avi Belkin, and the premise alone will hook you: it was 1981, in tiny Skidmore, Missouri, a man everyone feared as the town bully was shot dead in broad daylight — in front of dozens of witnesses. Nobody was ever charged. Because, as the title says, "no one saw a thing."
One case that really got to me was Bobbie Jo Stinnett's. She was a twenty-three, about to be a mother, until a woman came to her house under the pretense of adopting a dog. It was heartbreaking — honestly, just disappointing in the deepest way.
And I keep coming back to *why* people won't talk. I think it's fear, plain and simple. In a small town, people talk — and sometimes certain people talk too much. I'd be afraid to speak up too. But staying silent lets evil win, and that's worse, in my opinion.
I live in a very small town myself. We've had violent crimes so ghastly even the police were stunned. So this series hit close to home.
This is worth your doc hours, because it isn't just the mystery. Belkin was an outsider, yet he gained remarkable access — residents, law enforcement, even alleged participants speaking anonymously. That kind of honesty is rare, and it's what makes this one stick with you.
Halloween (1978) is the one that made it quiet scary.
John Carpenter made it for almost nothing, and that's why it works — just a small town on Halloween night, a white mask in the dark, and that piano theme that crawls under your skin. It's slow, patient, and it watches *you* as much as you watch it.
If you've never seen the original, start here. Just don't watch it with the lights off... or maybe do.
I love how Scream keeps you guessing and makes you wonder who could be behind that creepy Ghostface mask! There's suspense, fear, and enough twists to keep you on edge. You never know who's safe or who's next, and that's what makes this one such a fun, scary ride.
I relate to Sarah because I remember how awkward and insecure I felt starting college. I wasn't sure I'd make it or where I fit in. I was timid and honestly scared, even though I tried to put on a brave face. I think that's part of why I relate to Sarah so easily connect with her.
Lead character Sarah is easy for me to relate to. I remember starting college and feeling weird and awkward. I was insecure and not sure I would make it.
The Mothman Prophecies is one creepy movie! Based on real-life events, it has an eerie atmosphere that keeps you guessing. Richard Gere brings a certain chemistry to the screen, and his nightmares and visions make the story even more unsettling. If you enjoy spooky mysteries that get inside your head, give this one a watch
I can't help it. I really like Grey's Anatomy! It's more than just a hospital drama. There's heartbreak, relationships, and unexpected twists that keep you coming back for more. I stumbled across this show by accident, and I've been hooked ever since! If you enjoy a good medical drama that pulls you in and keeps you wanting more, give this one a try!
