I have to admit that when I saw this on ITV when it came out in 2012 I felt like most of the other 1 star reviewers. However now that I have watched it all in one evening I have found it to be a very good drama. The snap shot of life in Edwardian Britain and the differance in classes is very well delivered, as you'd expect from Julian Fellows. Each episode takes a look at the lives onboard Titanic from a differant point of view, so yes the ship sinks 4 times, although not completely until part 4. This in my view is actually a very good way to build to the final scenes in part four. With every part you learne a little bit more of the poeple and their lives, what brought them to be on Titanic and in some cases their final moments. I also love the way in which the tension builds in the final moments of Titanic and the fact that it is shot in a way that makes you feel you are there with them. Of course there are the odd historical inaccuracies but then what Titanic Drama / movie hasn't, with the exception of 'A Night to Remember.' The sets look very good although the smoking room looks nothing like the Titanic's and there are other sets that look nothing like the ships. But that aside there are some great set inclussions as well, like the blinds in the wheel house. Titanic did have these and I have checked this by reading the British Inquiry. In his evidence Robert Hitchins clearly tells the court that he 'could NOT SEE the Bridge because the blinds were down. Always at sunset the blinds are put down.' Well done to the producers for this as it's the first time I've seen this in any drama or movie. Even the 1997 block buster movie didn't show this. All in all I liked this the second time around but I also understand that it is not to everybodies taste. Some like a story to go from start to finish and others like it this way, told over serveral parts slowly unfolding the story as you watch.
