Saw it on TV and it felt like watching a detective solve crimes with a wrinkled coat, a polite smile and a mind like a steel trap. Lieutenant Columbo isn’t your typical TV cop. He’s disheveled, soft spoken and always underestimated, until he casually dismantles a suspect’s alibi with one final “just one more thing…” His cases are inverted mysteries: we see the crime, the killer and the motive up front, the thrill is watching Columbo unravel it all with relentless charm and quiet brilliance. Peter Falk owns the role. His performance is layered, sly and deeply human. The show’s guest stars often playing arrogant, wealthy killers, including legends like Leonard Nimoy, Johnny Cash and Patrick McGoohan. Each episode is a slow burn, rich with tension, wit and that signature Columbo persistence. Watching it again feels like slipping into a well worn trench coat of comfort and cleverness. It’s timeless, methodical and oddly soothing, like a chess match where the rumpled guy always wins.
