His spirit and dedication to make the audience root for Rudy is akin to what Sly Stallone did 18 years earlier playing a boxer named Rocky Balboa…it has unyielding heart, and Astins pure spirit…the bravest Goonie there was…is here on display again. And it works. We root for Rudy, because of the script, the costars, the fact that it’s a true story and the positive energy Astin exudes. Is Rudy a perfect film? Nope. And if you’re going to be a snob…go watch…whatever. If you don’t nitpick, is it great? Does it have a huge heart? Will you feel it? Yes. Yes. Yes. BELIEVE. “RUDY!! RUDY!!! RUDY!!!!” ✊✊✊
