The monster effects are fantastic, Stan Winston’s creature design is goated and the backwoods atmosphere gives it that campfire-tale vibe. The story’s a little thin and the pacing drags in spots, but Lance Henriksen’s grief-stricken performance holds it together. It’s grim, weirdly sad, and totally of its era. Great pick and a fun revisit.
