- Patrick Wai2026年8月31日The director clearly knows how to make a movie. It looks good, the pacing is solid, the atmosphere is suitably grim, and there are plenty of creepy images. The strange thing is that, despite having nearly all the ingredients of a genuinely frightening horror movie, I never found it particularly scary. The story is decent and fairly straightforward: family secrets, supernatural consequences, and a steadily worsening situation. Nothing revolutionary, but it gives the movie enough structure to keep moving. Where it loses me is the final stretch. The movie becomes increasingly frantic and exaggerated, and some of the supernatural logic gets muddled. What had been a fairly controlled horror film starts to feel more chaotic than frightening. Still, there’s enough craft here that I’d watch another movie from the same director. The filmmaking is stronger than the actual scares.
