- Mister Arn2026年9月9日Coach (1978) is about a woman hired to coach a boys’ high school basketball team and the crap she has to put up with to prove she belongs. But alongside that story of a woman earning respect in a position of authority, she has an affair with one of her players. Reverse the situation: a male coach sleeping with a girl on his high school team. We’d be talking about abuse of authority and possible jail time. The same standard should apply here. Instead, the movie treats the affair as a romance. She’s a great coach, the team wins all its games, and everyone’s happy. But winning basketball games doesn’t make that relationship acceptable. The movie seems to expect me to overlook it, and I couldn’t. I didn’t enjoy it.
