- charlieboy8082026年9月16日An animation classic that has been studied time and time again for it's style, music, and story telling. Akira is a time capsule into how we used to view the future. It also displays how good the animators were back then. There was no computer assisted drawings. Everything was done by hand then. Far too many times has this movie been referenced or has inspired many other pieces of media. For myself, that Red motorcycle has had my brain thinking about riding motorcycles since the 90s. Tagged with brands, it would seem that it inspired my future choices throughout my life. Canon. Shoei. Arai. Just some brands I still appreciate to this day.

The way it ends reminds me of Donnie Darko a ton and I fw that a ton Couldn’t pass up the opportunity of seeing these visuals / colors in the theater. Especially in 4K. Well worth it. Watched in 4K at Warren Regal West Featured in The Non-English Niche Featured in Phenomenally Photogenic Films

- James Saenz2026年9月11日i had never seen the movie, just knew about the iconic motorcycle slide and the headache meme, so i was really gagged when i realized neither of the main characters’ names was akira. fantastic film. insane that japan constantly puts out thought provoking, devastating postwar art surrounding the tragedy and atrocity of nuclear fallout and america can’t seem to make a single piece of post-9/11 related art that doesn’t feel like imperialist propaganda to some degree.

- soylentmatt2026年3月21日This movie is gorgeous and is dripping with style, and clearly earns its status as one of the most important movies ever made. It's also dark and sort of oppressively melancholy. Obviously you should know that going in, but the movie opens with an violent fight between biker gangs in a cyberpunk cityscape that is SO phenomenal it is impossible not to feel some degree of joy watching it, but then the rest of the movie... As gorgeously animated as it may be... Labors as hard as it can to crush the joy out of you. The movie isn't paced with the sort of rising tension / heroes journey / whatever that I think most audiences expect. Instead it's kind of holding your head down underwater while watching the light blink out of your eyes like Shamu drowning his trainer by her ponytail. If that's what your into .. or, you know, you're interested in watching one of the greatest feats of filmmaking ever performed... Then this is for you.

- Braden2026年6月5日Revisited on 4K for the first time in at least five years. Such a fantastic story. Incredible animation, killer sound and the english dub is pretty good. Would recommend this monumental film to anyone.
