🐻 It's not a family guy episode. It just isn't - don't be put off by the people who claim it is. What it is however, is 106 minutes of laughs with a smattering of suspense (no, really), and it's rounded off nicely with a heartwarming ending. All of that sounds a biit "meh", but when it's funny it's really funny - Ted going for a job interview at the supermarket had me almost hyperventilating with laughter. And there are some real near-to-the-knuckle comic moments. Patrick Stewart expertly narrates the opening scenes with excellent comic precision. If you're a big FG fan, you'll recognise that some of the crew are from FG: Walter Murphy does the music as he does on Family Guy. Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild had a hand in the screenplay. Also from FG: Lois (Alex Borstein) young John's mum Joe Swanson (Partrick Warburton) John's work friend, easily recognisible by his voice And in Ted, Lori is played by Mila Kunis who is Meg in Family Guy. Other cameos from memory include Flash Gordon (Sam J. Jones), Ryan Reynolds, and Norah Jones and Tom Skerritt. And a special mention must go to Giovanni Ribisi who is an excellent actor, he plays "weirdos" so well. For me, this was the second best film of 2012 (Avengers if you're wondering), and is well worthy of a place in your DVD collection. I've knocked a star off because it sagged for 10 minutes or so, don't let that put you off though.

Awesome movie by the one and only Seth MacFarlane. You will have probably heard or seen clips of this movie before watching the actual thing and to be fair if you watched some previous shows made by Seth such as family guy you still wouldn’t be able to get over the fact that Ted sounds like Peter or Brian but it all works out in the end.

I just watched Ted again and I would give it 4.5 out of 5 stars. This movie is hilarious ridiculous and exactly what you would expect from Seth MacFarlane. It takes the simple idea of a childhood wish coming true and turns it into one of the most over the top comedies ever made. The story follows John Bennett a guy who as a kid wished for his teddy bear to come to life. The problem is Ted never went away and now John is an adult still living with his foul mouthed lazy best friend who just happens to be a talking bear. It is the perfect setup for insane comedy and nonstop jokes and the movie delivers on every level. Mark Wahlberg is perfect as John. His ability to play off of a CGI teddy bear is what makes this movie work so well. He fully commits to the role making their friendship feel completely real even though the whole idea is absurd. His reactions to Ted’s wild antics are some of the funniest moments in the movie. Seth MacFarlane as Ted absolutely steals the show. He brings everything you would expect from him mixing crude humor sarcasm and pop culture references into one of the funniest characters ever. Ted is completely unfiltered saying and doing things that no stuffed animal ever should. The contrast between how cute he looks and how wild he acts makes it even funnier. The humor in Ted is exactly what you expect from Seth MacFarlane. If you like Family Guy or his other work you will love this. The jokes come at you fast and there is no topic off limits. Whether it is random cutaway gags ridiculous conversations or over the top physical comedy the movie keeps the laughs coming nonstop. The supporting cast is also great. Mila Kunis as Lori John’s girlfriend adds a nice balance to the madness. She plays the role of the responsible one in the relationship while still having some funny moments of her own. The dynamic between John Lori and Ted is what drives the movie creating some of the best scenes. The visual effects are impressive. Ted looks completely real and his interactions with the world around him are seamless. Whether he is drinking partying getting into fights or just sitting on the couch watching TV he feels like a real character rather than just a CGI creation. The pacing is great. The movie never slows down and every scene is either setting up a joke delivering one or leading into another crazy situation. The mix of comedy and a surprisingly solid story keeps things moving without ever feeling like it drags. The only reason I would not give it a full 5 out of 5 is that some of the jokes go on a little too long and a few moments feel like they are trying too hard to be shocking rather than just being funny. But even with that most of the humor lands perfectly and the movie is consistently entertaining from start to finish. Overall Ted is one of the best and most original comedies of the last decade. It is crude offensive and absolutely hilarious. If you love Seth MacFarlane’s style of humor this is a must watch. I had a blast watching it and it is a movie I will always go back to when I need a good laugh.

Seth MacFarlane created Family Guy. Then, he perfected the formula, creating American Dad, and unsuspectingly, also creating the single greatest adult animated show of all time. So he can do very little wrong in my eyes. Does he need to work on pacing in a movie vs a tv show, yes, but the jokes are always there, he can edit, and most of all he works for the good of the plot of the episode/film, and not his own ego gratification

A very good, original comedy by Seth MacFarlane. Many genuine laughs throughout the film. Jokes were hilarious, storyline was a bit meh and shaky but it’s expected with comedies like these. I think Wahlberg and Kunis did brilliantly in their roles and MacFarlane is an incredible voice actor. Obviously it’s not a cinematic masterpiece but films like these can still be really enjoyable and be something to watch in the background or to just help you unwind.

Simply brilliant, it’s a talking bear that smokes pot… what’s not to love?

Dumb. Seth McFarland couldn't write a funny joke if his life depended on it.

Take a childhood staple and make him foul-mouthed, raunchy and give him a libido. Wouldn't have worked without Wahlberg and Kunis.

One of the worst comedies I've ever seen. It was just so childish that it was hard to watch it. I mean the main character is like taken from a bad Disney movie, needing all sorts of help in life. And his main buddy, a teddy bear, is talking about dicks and weed all day and is generally only annoying. Is that supposed to be funny? It's like a childrens movie with random profanity tossed in here and there. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.
