Emma Donoghue's adaptation of her own novel, itself inspired in part by the horrifying Josef Fritzl case, could easily have become a grim exercise in exploitation. Instead, it becomes something remarkably humane. Experiencing much of the story through young Jack's perspective transforms the confined room into an entire universe, where ordinary routines become extraordinary acts of love and survival. Jacob Tremblay delivers one of the finest child performances I've ever seen, never feeling like a child actor reciting lines but a little boy whose understanding of the world is as authentic as it is heartbreaking. Brie Larson is equally remarkable, revealing the impossible balancing act of protecting innocence while carrying a burden no parent should ever have to bear. What separates Room from countless other captivity dramas is its refusal to treat escape as the finish line. Backed by A24, Abrahamson and Donoghue understand that surviving trauma is only the beginning, shifting their attention toward the uncomfortable process of rebuilding a life that no longer resembles the one left behind. The film finds extraordinary power in ordinary moments, trusting silence, fractured relationships, and small emotional victories to say more than any dramatic outburst could. It's compassionate without becoming sentimental, devastating without becoming manipulative, and hopeful without pretending that healing is ever simple. Few films have left me as moved by the resilience of the human spirit as Room, and even fewer have explored it with this much honesty.

- Nicholas Florio8 de diciembre de 2025This was such a good movie. It was sad and sweet and beautiful. Brie Larson did a fantastic job. The little boy who played Jack was so amazing. I have always been drawn toward these type of stories, it makes me so aware of the things we take for granted and the ability we have to adapt. This film was surely a testament to both.
