I think I winced when I initially saw that an upcoming Shudder release was titled Influencer. Social media influencer centered stories are my LEAST favorite horror trope that has proliferated in the last few years. But, I actually loved this. Sure, it might be getting boost because of my bias towards The Long Cold Open. But if that hadn’t won me over, then Cassandra Naud’s captivating lead certainly would have. And the films takes a refreshing new approach to the social media angle, namely, would anyone miss you, if you’re gone. It’s a taut and twisted little thriller. It makes really excellent use of what I imagine was a very low budget. Highly recommend.
