⭐⭐⭐ – 22 Jump Street – Same Class, Different Campus 22 Jump Street knows exactly what it is — a sequel that’s practically a mirror image of the first film, and it leans into that joke so hard it almost gets away with it. This time, our undercover duo trades high school for college, but otherwise, it’s the same chaotic blend of bullets, bromance, and bad decisions. Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum still make a solid pair, their odd-couple chemistry doing most of the heavy lifting. Tatum’s dopey sincerity and Hill’s anxious overthinking keep the laughs coming, even when the gags themselves feel recycled. The film even mocks its own repetition, constantly reminding you that yes, this is exactly like last time — just with a bigger budget and slightly older jokes. There are moments that land well, particularly when the two start questioning their friendship like it’s a romantic breakup, but the overall spark is dimmer. It’s fun, sure, but it doesn’t surprise the way the first one did. It’s the cinematic equivalent of going back to the same party the next night — familiar faces, same playlist, still a good time, but you know every beat before it drops. 🍺 Pairing: A light beer at an afterparty — easygoing, predictable, and enjoyable enough as long as you don’t expect anything new.
