Th House on Straw Hill, Expose, Trauma are some of the names for this English countryside 70’s nasty.
It’s pretty tame by today’s standards and quite a comfy watch for a Sunday morning. I mean it is trashy but fun. Udo Kier looks like Terrance Stamp on a good day and he’s a writer in a movie that can’t seem to get going on his second novel. That hoary chestnut is peppered with soft core elements including a nympho assistant that is always going off to rub one out… and maybe murder! There’s a bit of a love triangle with an even sluttier red head competes for Udo’s affection. Udo Kier wears rubber gloves when he beds his women which should be a red flag.
Kier’s dub is horrible and it makes his performance less than convincing which is not his fault. He plays on of those proper Brits that wear 2 of his 3 piece suit everyday in the country. If he was American he’d be in a T shirt and sliders.
A fine watch with some warm coffee on a chilly spring morning.
