I love this movie. I'm reading the comics right now. The movie closely follows several storylines in the comics. I do feel the leads were mis-cast. Sometimes Lauraline hits her comic counterparts feisty personality, and sometimes she misses. As far as Valerian, he's just not the right guy. The parts calls for a young Ryan Reynolds, Paul Rudd or Val Kilmer. We have a dearth of young, good actors these days that would fit the part. So for this I knock off a half star. But man, what a great movie otherwise. It gets better with every viewing. The opening sequence is so full of hope and aspirations. It's an absolute cinematic treasure. That alone is worth the price of admission.
