The 1970s was one of the best years for superhero tv shows and it was Lynda Carter’s Wonder Woman series leading the way. Carter’s Grace, beauty, and presence lifted the show to great heights. Carter personified the character without having to overly sexualize an already very sexy character. But that isn’t to say that the show at times didn’t delve into some light fetish bondage fantasy. In the first season Wonder Woman is often times seen rolling around fighting women, stumbling into traps and getting chloroformed, and gets knocked out and tied up. It kind of was the building block to the Superheroine fetish genre seen in more “adult titles.” Beyond that Wonder Woman is presented as a true feminist icon. You might knock her down but she always gets back up to save the day. The first season saw WW fighting Nazi spies while season 2 and 3 had WW fight aliens, gangsters, and other original super powered villains. Overall it’s a fun show with a hot lead at a time when the superhero genre was still in its infancy. You can stream all 3 seasons now on MAX.
