A mushroom trip brings free-spirited Elliott face-to-face with her 39-year-old self. But when Elliott's "old ass" delivers warnings to her younger self, Elliott realizes she has to rethink everything about her family, life and love.
This was an incredibly sweet watch. What would you ask your older self and what would you tell your younger self, if you had the opportunity? Maisy Stella is great in the lead, but this absolutely works best when Aubrey Plaza is on screen as well….which isn’t nearly enough, in my opinion. There’s a large chunk of the film where Aubrey is only present via a cell phone (sometimes voice, sometimes text) and it definitely feels like one of those situations where a small movie ran out of shooting time with their relatively big star. I don’t know if that’s the case, but it feels like it. But credit to director Megan Park for making it work, if it was. The film is an incredibly heartwarming story about cherishing the people you love, and not taking any moment for granted.
