I really liked it, it's the first of the hellboy films that felt like the comics to me, definitely an interesting choice to adapt a short character centric story rather than rehash the whole prophecy/destiny bit or try to safe all of humanity etc while still showing a different side of his origin with his mother, & fleshing out the story so it adapts well into a satisfying narrative, a refreshing take on the verse, i think the casting choice was solid so it's worth checking out even if you're diehard about ron pearlman being the only hellboy, bit sad that the blu-ray i got doesn't have a commentary track
