Close Calls is a love letter to Dario Argento and old grindhouse exploitation films of yesteryear. The film visually stunning and atmospheric. Following a curvy and busty bratty girl, Morgan (Jordan Phipps), she receives a series of disturbing phone calls, setting off a spiral of paranoia, drug-induced hallucinations, and eerie encounters that blur the line between reality and nightmare. The film thrives on its dreamlike, disorienting atmosphere, keeping both Morgan and the audience questioning what’s real. It’s a sexy and wild film but it does run a little long and almost over stays its welcome. Luckily Phipps Morgan is absolutely magnetic in her role.
